Qiu Anxiong

Qiu Anxiong nascido no ano de 1972 em Sichuan, China, forma-se pela Academia de Artes de Sichuan no ano de 1994. Durante essa formação mantém seu olhar direcionado, principalmente, para o ocidente, apesar de explorar técnicas de pinturas da tradição chinesa.

 Qiu mergulha nas técnicas de pintura moderna mas, não se limita a isso, funda um Clube de música underground que se torna ponto de encontro de artistas.

 Em 1998, o artista inicia um período de seis anos como aluno de pós-graduação na Universidade de Kassel, na Alemanha. O efeito de viver em um ambiente sociocultural totalmente diferente faz com que o artista, de fora de sua realidade, retome o olhar sobre a China e suas tradições e atualidades percebendo-as de um "novo" ponto de vista. Depois dessa "mudança" de olhar, o artista passa a fazer críticas severas sobre o sistema artístico chinês em defesa do patrimônio cultural do país.

 Em 2004, Qiu volta para a China, onde agora é professor da Universidade de Xangai. Somente neste momento ele se interessa pelas "novas mídias" e passa a explorá-las em seu trabalho, pois até então se limitava a trabalhar com técnicas tradicionais da arte chinesa negando técnicas ocidentais. A partir dessa volta a China e desse interesse pelas técnicas ocidentais de novas mídias a produção do artista se transforma e ele passa a explorar diversos meios (vídeo, animação 2D [feita a mão], instalações, entre outros) misturando técnicas da cultura chinesa e técnicas ocidentais, mas mantendo o contexto sociocultural chinês como o foco principal de sua produção.

 Nesse ano de 2010, Qiu participa da 29ª Bienal com o tema Arte e Política Há sempre um copo de mar para o homem navegar a obra exposta faz parte do terreiro Longe daqui aqui mesmo, e é um vídeo feito com técnicas de animação em acetato onde o artista explora signos globais e locais criando uma narrativa desesperançosa através de diferentes utopias de mundo em conflito (isso é uma interpretação pessoal não  uma verdade absoluta a obra é aberta e pode e deve receber outras inúmeras interpretações).
